Abnormal Nights is a stand-up comedy show at the Adams Avenue Theater in San Diego’s Normal Heights neighborhood. They provide a space for some of San Diego’s best up and coming comedians as well as more established headliners that need a place to test new material. After nearly two years, they needed a distinct visual identity to stand out in the local comedy scene.

Normal Heights sign

The original logo paid homage to the iconic Normal Heights sign just down the block from the theater. While it was a nice tribute to the neighborhood, the sign is widely used on local merchandise making it feel generic rather than distinct or ownable.

The new identity revolves around a shifting “A” that moves, scales, and interacts with surrounding content. It becomes a part of the performance, spotlighting both the show and the acts it presents.
